Step 4: Review Your Class Placement Email
Now that you have completed the Class of 2028 Elective Preference Survey and have identified the elective courses that you are interested in taking, you are now ready to prepare for Course Selection Night. Final schedules for high school, will be made at Course Selection Night. District 218 will send all incoming freshman families an email with recommendations from their junior high/middle school in late December/ early January. If you have not received an email by mid-January, please contact the Counseling Department at your high school.
Guidelines for Required Courses
All incoming freshman will have the opportunity to participate in the Open Enrollment Process. You have received recommended Required Courses. You will now have an opportunity to review the recommendations made based on your previous academic experiences and grades. Students are placed in College Prep Courses, AP Courses, Honors Courses and Support Courses. CHSD218 believes in students having the ability to push themselves and try rigorous courses.
The Recommendation/Course Selection Process is a collaborative process meant to provide the appropriate opportunities for students. Click here to map out the courses you want to take.
- To Opt Out of a Support Class: At Course Selection Night, families will have an opportunity to review their student's placement and determine if the student needs to take a support course to build the areas for growth.
- To Level Up Into an Honors Class: Students will indicate on the final Skyward Course Acceptance Page that they would like to take the honors level of the course they have been placed into. At Course Selection Night, families will have an opportunity to review the Class of 2028 academic needs and will determine if the student needs to take a support course to build the areas for growth.
Please use the Course Selection Planning Sheet to map at a plan for the classes you would like to take next fall.
