I call this meeting to order just a regular school board meeting for Community High School District 218 Thursday when did Silence in the Room Place this is Thursday March 21st 2024 or the Edmund Center and we need to have a roll call please hello Miss on this roll we have a quorum Dorchester okay the princess down to agenda item number for and that's resolutions accommodations and would you please leave the Board of Education resolution of commendation to staff students and community members who have excelled academically athletically prefer run your service to others tonight and Stephanie Lopez well you are holistic Therapy Program and they competed in the Special Olympics ballgame at Poplar Grove and one the following Awards metal and Gold stock seed and Riding Trail in a gold medal and socks please and Stephanie's won a bronze medal in stock seat and a silver medal and riding trip graduations everyone mermaids mermaids my name is Marlon Carmen and I'm the founder and executive director of holistic riding equestrian therapy and first and foremost everybody in this room needs to recognize your board of directors for the time and the financial support and the energy they put into making this program happen this is probably the most labor-intensive program they've ever launched in their commitment has been unwavering and the teachers have worked exceptionally hard to create a curriculum that is unlike any curriculum that is in the state of Illinois currently so I would like to take this moment to ask me a couple questions you want to come up to you okay the questions I was asking her was what is her favorite part about this program you don't need the microphone just talk loud do you like to tell me the favorite part of this program for you Du Hast by Rammstein what's the favorite part of the program for you basketball rehearse. And the horses who's your favorite horse Oliver and Holly okay all right all right here's your reward I'm very very proud of you see you next year okay great graduation come on over where is Harry Potter are you coming back to Special Olympics who's your favorite horse Shiloh Shiloh this week was recognized by a veteran who had written him 12 years ago at bravehearts and this veteran came to our facility for months past his life expect expectancy with very very severe lung cancer and he walked down the aisle and he said my favorite horse in the world is a paint that horse isn't named Shiloh is he so cycled back twelve years later he actually reconnected with his heart horse and he's been riding every week and his family says he's getting stronger and stronger so the healing power of the horse is not just beautiful I mean undisputable thank you honey next we recognize the basketball team from the adult transition program under the leadership of Becky arceo and this year the basketball team for the adult transition program qualified for the Special Olympics of Illinois state tournament introduce your players hello we have number 12 or aha number 11 Matt Campbell a 3 pennies Henderson 54 Alejandro Garcia 32 Anthony number 5 Stephanie Lopez number 8 Casey Barker number for Tina Marie branch and number one l.j. next basketball team from Eisenhower under the leadership Nicola man to Mike emanuelson this year the basketball team from Eisenhower also qualified for the Special Olympics of Illinois state tournament the board would like to congratulate the coaches and players for an amazing season coaches would you please introduce your players and talk about what a great seas hi sweetheart are players senior jaquail Moss other three all freshmen with Anthony Gonzalez Tommy bohanon and a GM of our team Nicole man's thank you to all the parents to to everyone at District at let us go down have a a time I know we had a great time competing stay at hotel singing karaoke and dancing after Buffalo Wild Wings so thank you everybody for making that possible next recognized Shepherd student Brett Montoya need to be students made in Leviticus and Mikey alma mater this year Brett Smitty and Mikey won the prestigious infinite ex-student technology Achievement Award recently they were honored at the annual awards banquet at Gaelic Park student to win this award have excelled quote using assistive technology to access Ricky lemann demonstrate functional Independence at school congratulations to everyone and we have missed the rest so it is bad technology award and for these two fine students of ours at a CP they received it for using their communication devices Maddie uses technology in all sorts of ways she loves pigs sweet when she goes on vacation she does tons of things with her family so not only does she use her communication device do tell us about it but she also uses pictures and my key right paragraph on his device and just so so smart both of them are they truly truly do their independence defend friend tips on relationships because of the technology that has allowed them to communicate with others Mikey might have something to say finally tonight we recognize our coaches and varsity girls bowling team from Richard travel map under the leadership of coach that said Finke Ryan weight and Dominick's to who lack a memorable season after winning many many trophies during the regular season they won their second straight South Suburban Conference Red Division Championship the second place of the righteous a regional and for the first time in 32 years first place at the right just a sectional to qualify for the state finals at State the Bulldogs play 13th out of the more than 200 schools that participate in bowling and sophomore Alyssa Garcia finished in 30th Place and leave the team coach would you please introduce your players and I'll start out with the introductions sophomore scene senior Miramonte senior Yasmine Molly Junior Natalie stahulak Junior Kylee Schaefer Junior Lauren sophomore Katie bar and sophomore yulissa Garcia first off I wanted to congratulate all the other schools and accomplishments to know that are here tonight I want to thank the board for having us out but it's not a great season we had we had a good one like you said first time in 32 years that we won a sectional Championship so I died was a huge accomplishment I'll just a just a few other highlights real quick we were undefeated in conference ulises Garcia had to perfect 300 games this year which is amazing with one of them being in the conference champion so it was very very exciting it's great to watch with that being said she also scored the the fifth highest series of all time history the Great Dane on the team also placed as a team 12 in history that day as well so just a really great group of girls thank you guys for all the hard work that the Dom and Brian who's not here today the other coaches and I really shows the dedication and hard work that you guys put in I look forward for next season as well we have only a few leaving good luck to you guys but we got to the majority of everybody's coming back before. okay go for anybody out there that had a bad day I'm so just made your day a lot better if you had a good day is made your day better congratulate everybody. Tuesday's Awards this evening summer blocked already I understand that at this time we need to approve the awards as written resolutions excuse me would you please call Sally the motion of yes all right mr. Again congratulations anybody that received award and award this evening feels like you want to leave and not stay the whole meeting please feel comfortable thank you so much again it in your meeting will bring it down to agenda item number five which is Thomas for the public related to the meeting agenda items are there any comments for the public this evening 310 bring down to agenda item number six is for a opportunity to respond to the public and board members Commons do any of the board members have in common I just want to say we have some students here from Richards who are observing how are meetings run but I think one of us related thank you so much for coming is there any other kind board members staring down at this time we'll move on to agenda item number seven is approving of consent agenda the move Okay so consent 7A is a provable of the minutes board meeting February 12th 2024 closed session meeting February 12th 2024 working board meeting February 26th 2024 turn a s i a h s a membership 11000 item 11 is approval of expenditures Community High School District 218 payment of bills and Mac Campbell's agenda item number 12 is recommendations of the superintendent concerning staff Personnel Personnel list number 2020 4-3 are there any board members that want anything taken off consent this evening none would you take the bolts are just Callier Let's Roll okay so that brings us down to agenda item number 9 is reports to the superintendent 98 is financial report is there any questions on a financial report non resistant 90's technology update any questions on technology updates Marino questions 9 student enrollment report any questions comments was nice set for any special reason or and when it's nice to see you over there tomorrow give me a call okay princess Bowser 90s general maintenance report questions on the general maintenance report nice nice job fantastic that 7 years ago I move in there I saw the floor buffer was broke at one of the schools and we had to replace it but I can understand why it was broke cuz you can see yourselves in those tiles after I we have a new school obviously it was cuz of you so thank you for all right and the other comments Briggs & Stratton I need is a business managers update any Quest Amazon that turn on the line app for Safety and Security report any questions comments on Safety and Security 9 G's report of the evaluation of teachers teacher Fair Institute day March 4th 2024 listen to comments I just like to come in. The teacher comedian doctor briceno did an excellent job putting this together it's always a great day for teachers learn opportunity coming over to learn so nice job Briggs & Stratton 9 in construction update Eisenhower Auditorium renovation and field houses Edition at your house addition to choose me and Shepherd Auditorium renovation and fuel house addition any comments on construction update and the theater start get all the dust out of all the Dust very beautiful just coming up okay I'll bring some stuff tonight so I can do the reports by board members do any do the board members have, I have a quick report of mine will be very short because thanks to Mr Percy you pretty much did my job and his Sandra update cuz it pretty much sums up everything we talked about in the talk about the per diem and making the changes to that which will be presented in more detail at the April board meeting moving forward on the Budget Inn in Heath different departments in really having some conversations about what the needs are in the different departments so that you know a really good thing that he just really wanted to have conversations with everybody was great and then the food service RT I'm going through that and he gave at the end of his report so if anybody had any questions about any of that there's a committee they have to find a file that structure they have until it's the third right put in full movie budget before more information comes to the boards though Tony uses my job for me so I appreciate the Education Foundation met and the Arts Extravaganza will be held at Eisenhower High School on April 5th and our golf outing is coming up on May 30th looking for participants in the Gulf how many Crafters they ended up booking two weeks ago they were at I've got a couple more in but yeah growing a little bit that's new all right I have a report and that's the interview committee which met last Tuesday yeah we did interviews for the principal ship at Shepherd high school and also at Richards High School I would first like to start that though we would like to congratulate dr. Jacobson for his years of service Richards high school and dr. Pollock for her years at Shepherd High School dr. Jacob so hopefully he comes back with a state championship all right so we did the interviews and the Kennedy step we recommend to the Board of Education from the committee is dr. Tim Baker with us this evening dr. Melinda Modoc thank you very much thank you I'll be up so I might have to make her for those of you that don't know me this is my 22nd year in the district I was a teacher at Richard's for ten years I was in Miss Reynard is an hour for 10 years I'm in this is my second year at Shepherd high school I'll make friendly excited it to take the reins at Shepherd High School August a dream job for me when I got into education and then realize I want to go to Administration this was a goal of mine so it's very surreal to be standing at this time but I definitely appreciate the vote of confidence from the board from dr. Barron doctor Feeney dr. Walter getting it done for me so far out in my career I might have my my wife Janelle here with me my daughter Lena my son Leo and my daughter lady congratulations bake are we doing 2003 and then assistant principal and then an associate principal I spent the bulk of my time into 18 at Richard's looking forward to going back I love my Eisenhower family dearly others not a bad place to work in this District I know the joint we are my husband Lawrence and our daughter Salem thank you Gloria said thank you Doctor Wilder and then dr. Feeney dr. Barron I appreciate all these thank you so much the both of you are all three of the school in the district and I do miss the kids do you have anything there today I just I think that our schools are going to be in great hands so I'm really excited for them and for the gas and it's going to be well. dr. Walters homes for sale because principles are supposed to be at the board meetings for seeing you have your families with you tonight but if you feel what I feel like leaving with your family please do it yes if you want to stay at okay it's about time you got a birthday cake so I don't know brings us down to I'm sorry there's a is there any other Briggs & Stratton to agenda item 10 I don't know why it's under her but 10 V is school board meeting dates 2020 for 2025 and we all I know there was an issue in the past from the store to make Monday night and said it would work on Monday nights anymore but I don't know what will make it work you can make it was only one Monday. next one before is there any other board members can make the rest of the good Lord willing other board members comfortable this is for information only this evening I believe and then the next meeting would probably approve it so if you do if the check your calendars or something at home and find the discrepancy then please let us know okay this evening to discuss appointment application performance of specific employees discussion on pending or probate litigation affecting or on behalf of the public body discussion on Collective negotiation and discussion on student disciplinary case so I need a motion to going to close this evening and I have a second okay so we going that we're not going to vote on anything exact session this evening so if you feel like leaving it to where you're going to have to leave cuz we need to I guess that's a nice way of saying you want to leave at this time the kids need to prove that they were here can I take a selfie with
