family call this meeting to order this is the regular school board meeting of education for Community High School District 218 today is Thursday May 18th at 2023 and it is 6 p.m. we are at the Delta Summit Learning Center in Crestwood so I need to have a roll call please I'm just a secretary here the sun is a Christian is present its cantello I think she is an excused absence does a person sound thinking little that means all right let's go give me talk to Walter would you please lead us United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty so we have a core on this evening Beyond agenda item number for us we have to go into closed session so we work the poor education in the superintendent and whoever else we need will be leaving the room to go into closed session we're going into closed session to I need a scuse me I need a motion in the on the floor to go in the clothes I have a person so we're going in the close this evening to discuss discussion on appointment employment compensation and performance of specific employees discussion on pending or probe a probable litigation affecting or on behalf of the public body discussion on the employment appointment unemployment compensation discipline performance or dismissal of specific individuals who served as an independent contractor in an educational setting so we need to go across all who do we need Rodger Craig thank you Board of Education was in closed session we weren't open earlier and we're back out again or not yet excuse me we're still in clothes so I need a motion I would like to make a motion to come second all in favor anybody opposed abstentions motion carries learn Open session again folks might see a lot of people here this evening we've been following a John. They took second place overall as well as in the desert category finally teaches Erin Quinlan and dance they celebrated their team but Isabel Gilbert Jabari Harvey and Emily Shepard went in first place overall for Jabari that's back-to-back Shepherd has won this contest is the 5th Street the Astros have won the award for best actress Mister salty would you please Emily Shepherd Junior Gilbert next to the other teachers actually look for her and Scott Richardson times table chart for the past six years the Shepherd Community is participate in the Polar Plunge to raise money for Special Olympics the Polar Plunge team received more support than ever with a record 120 Susan staff including the administrative team has campaigns with more than $25,000 in donations this brings the total by Shepherd to more than $9,000 for Special Olympics night the board would like to thank them for their incredible efforts this is Liz bird with you all right so we had like you said 120 people but these are for top fundraisers here tonight since we couldn't have everyone so John hirokawa is a second-year plunger he's also three Sports special Olympic Athlete whose rays $2,000 over the last two years we have between Frank and Jack these are our top two fundraisers that combine resolver $3,000 just the two of them Lana Del gato Ridge what was your final 800 next we were recognized coach Mark Urban and the varsity speech team from Eisenhower Curtis Christie produced a storage success this past season under the leadership of Coach Urban this team won first place of the Dekalb corn classic for the conference fifth in both the Richards and Eisenhower tournament and six at the ultimate holiday Invitational and for the first time in school history Eisenhower one is ihsa Regional Championship we celebrate so many individual highlights including the Amazing by senior Jalen Mabry an impromptu speaking nine times and play second another eight times in both categories at the original and I was just a sectional tournament to qualify for the state she then became the latest ihsa station from the Eisenhower speech program but taking first place in radio I don't know where to celebrate such a low or no simple as and you should have Hatcher and mineral grum advancing from the national speech and debate Association Regional Tournament to the national finals next coach Urban good dinner at the Hayward Junior Manila Brown Junior will you holler and see her and that my friends and I are over 50 Dale Mabry mr. mcpartland I just have a floor for a minute so that and I forgot when we came out but we're wearing these green shirts tonight before vegetation the superintendent has for mental awareness month and I believe these shirts were made in our school by some of our special ed students and maybe you want to say a few words about Josh the program call Mom right now kids and care about their mental health and it will need to go help me did Melman have somewhere are we thought it was important that our board signified that high five a book bug out and making t-shirts. Hatcher are you have never been a senior person steal the senior Jamie Haynes senior in LED next weekend at a junior Benjamin Lopez and Richardson your memory Sweeney both bad and they can qualify this year for the do professionals of America National Finals in Anaheim in the Microsoft Office specialist certification category in for the fourth consecutive year qualify for BPA Nationals to deliver it in incredible performance in Anaheim when he first place an advanced word processing and second place in advanced office systems and procedures congratulations then and now next record digital media teacher Jodi Pelini and her Shepherd this year this is pollini and her talented hard-working AstroWorld media students competed in the South Suburban College High School video contest for the third straight year AstroWorld media won the regional Award of Excellence which honors. high school digital media Studio judgment the best in the region in first place in the categories of creative mode project commercial promo and use it toward the ultimate Tekken plays in the news category and third place in the live mobile Cameron production category second wave Thursday DIY first place for Daniella Ramirez products and then headed out. Oh I won first place for you finally tonight we honor digital media teacher are incremental and its students from Richard what is a pallini instrumental leaves an incredibly successful digital media program at Richards his students won many awards at the South Suburban College and Midwest immediate Educators Association High School Video Festival resistance place in five categories that the SSD Festival including best music program best public service announcement music video best romantic short film and best podcast for public service announcement category at the MMA a competition in the richest teams won second place in the categories of commercial / promo creative mode mobile project news story in music video as well as third place in the creative mobile project and music videos by categories of the South Urban couch contest they can fly really good and also the program so much gross income from just a year or two police there's not even touch the camera is so good with yourself. How's things going fishing for 35 bucks and I thank you guys for all that I need to get our program as well at Leesburg close book and physical thank you sir we would do is Board of Education we would
