this is the run the board meeting of community High School District 218 sisters Thursday May 19th 2022 at 6:35 I need to appoint Mr Christian if you would please be acting board secretary this evening yes sir and would you please take a roll call Miss cantello Miss cats here let's roll this Collier Christian is present okay you say the Pledge of Allegiance I pledge allegiance to the Republic indivisible with liberty and justice for all . down to agenda item number war and that is resolutions and commendations and mr. mcpartland would you please walk us through thank you sir is been the policy of the Board of Education to resent resolutions is it has been the policy of the Board of Education 2% resolutions accommodation to stay up students and community members who have distinguished themselves academically and athletically professionally or in their service to others can I have your first recognized called director Roland Hatcher and Nova the show choir from Shepherd under the leadership of mr. Hatcher and his assistants Nova Produce a competitive season full of achievement the Astros won best choreography and took third place overall at the Mount Zion Midwest Invitational runner-up at the People's Choice Award show choir Invitational call at the Manteno main event and third place at the Chesterton Trojan clastic one of the most competitive events in the midwest season proved historic never before had show choir placed at every competition graduations mr. Hatcher you please introduce your students next we recognize Richard students Megan McSweeney and Abby Buchanan Ken Zager and Shepherd students Julia Alvarez Liam guy. Gerald Linnea Marsh and Godzilla awesome HEB each of these students placed at the state finals of the business Professionals of America purchase to qualify for the national finals in Dallas under the leadership of Derrick Johnson Abby qualified after winning first place in ethics and professionalism and Meghan quit advance to Nationals after taking 3rd and state in advanced office systems and procedures Mega them won third place in advanced office systems and procedures at Nationals under the leadership of teachers Jennifer Spellman and Bill Cosgrove Julia qualified by taking first place in state and advanced word processing Liam s in personal finance management Shay s in advanced interview skills when they have 3rd and Java programming and God will assist and database applications at Nationals their achievement contingent Liam Liam took third place in personal financial management doing 7th and advanced word processing and shave 4th and advanced interview skills congratulations everyone mr. Johnson and Spellman would you please introduce your students I have 19 next recognized the culinary arts teachers from Eisenhower Richards and Shepherd and their teams has always excelled at the Moraine Valley Community College culinary contest but never before have they swept all three places this year the team of Hansa is Rachel Rodriguez and Andrea Ibaka from Richards won third-place team of Kim Beckett Hernan with you and Isabella Reyes from Eisenhower won second place and finally the team of Jabari Harvey there on Dixon and Guadalupe Delgado from Shepherd one first-place gratulations everyone and a special congratulations to mr. solski and his students wasn't the third time that Mr sollecito team has won replace your team already hard waiting finally tonight we recognized Shepherd physical education teacher and varsity wrestling coach Scott Richardson recently the Illinois wrestling coaches and officials Association selected for induction into the Hall of Fame this prestigious honor recognizes him for many reasons as a student Providence High School he twice placed at the ihsaa state finals it serves captain of an undefeated state championship team Scott then one in the NJCAA National Championship at Lincoln College before becoming an assistant coach of Providence or the team 1525 dual team state championships in Play store to me he also when they're supposed to go to the year for Region 4 in two thousand and I wcoa assistant coach of the year in 2001 became head wrestling coach at Coal City High School where you work for three years and then became Varsity head coaches where is Coach many state qualifiers in 1002 a coach of the year three times graduation Scott on this extraordinary achievement okay first of all we would like to congratulate everybody that we received a car Jason this evening to approve the accommodations as read the resolutions I'm sorry I'm a commotion over first and second would you please take a Miss Collier this cat's this role just can't tell all right mr. stop is Adam e Burke Circle Adam congratulations Adam Adam is being hired as an English teacher at Eisenhower High School graduations infer does an employer in Bachelors from Governors State masters from Olivet Nazarene University with a reading specialist certification he currently works at Bloom Township High School in 2015 he is most excited about with the students and teachers of Eisenhower High School something unique about him is he has pride pride himself on mixing cutting-edge media and practices with tried-and-true practices of Education Adam Ebert thank you walking just going to stay up here next new teacher Morgan caps come on up Morgan's being hired as a special education teacher at Eisenhower High School Congratulations Morgan she has a bachelor's degree from Illinois State University another master's degree from Olivet Nazarene and you to know the other two guys in class together to both have reading specialist Works currently works at Liberty Junior High to last for years she is a Astro Shepard High School along but she's most excited about working District district 28 change you would say most excited about being able to teach a subject she loved in high school level and working with high school students she looking forward to change and new challenges and she's super excited to be able to come full circle and teach alongside some of her old high school teacher something unique about Morgan every summer she volunteers for Special Olympics at Illinois State University to help with bocce ball welcome Morgan oh geez Justin Perkins come on up perkulator another one I guess a lot of stories about Justin but I'm going to keep them keep them in the professional no great kid I got a good story with you and your dad do right at the hospital but I'll keep that to myself Justin Perkins hired a special education teacher at 8 B Shepard Bachelors at University of Illinois Masters National-Louis University worked at Independence Junior High one year Brookwood junior high for three years and is currently coaching wrestling at Alan B Shepard High School one unique thing about about Justin is his father worked in the district as our athletic director and he comes with a wealth of experience Justin is also looking forward to back to Shepherd where he remembers growing up there with his father is when he was an athletic director and spending most of his time there and now you have an opportunity to be a teacher there so walking Justin Griselda Quintero come on out griselda's being hired as a Spanish teacher at Eisenhower High School call Griselda bachelor's from DePaul University Masters English University of the University of Illinois Chicago Masters in Northeastern Illinois University literacy reading specialist endorsement teaching English as second language type 29 transitional bilingual certificate and DePaul University secondary English day you can do a lot lucky to have you currently works at Thomas Kelly high school as an English teacher what she's most excited about working in District 218 working with e l student Community one unique thing about her she's a 1999 golden full scholarship recipient and it's been working as a teacher for 19 years to walk them through Zelda Amin tomalia I apologize if I I heard sell Arabic bilingual teacher at Richards High School congratulations bachelor's degree from San Jose University Masters in ESL curriculum instruction works as an elt sure right now at Sandburg High School so I could we still do from there what do you most excited about working in District 218 serving the community to help raise him becoming peers the teachers he grew up with and learning more about the art of teaching from experienced teachers and administrators he is a grant one unique thing about him he's a graduate of Richards High School class of 2015 last but not least Rachel vandell handle that say that right Rachel here no Rachel okay well Rachel's hired as an art teacher Eisenhower High School bachelor's degree from Trinity Christian College she's coming to us from Lansing District 158 so we have a very talented group here and it's always cool to see 2218 graduates up here as well so awesome thank you you guys just want to stand there all the time you want to go back to your seat because you go back to your seat thank you congratulations guys okay now for our new administrators first stop Doctor Gregory Walter come on up Greg new assistant superintendent of operations will be working with human resources Security in 01m those three main departments lawyer Greg has been over 30 years graduations cry dr. Robert Missouri what are you most excited about working in District 218 is most excited to work with Pina furuta he said he's more nervous than excited nervous about the first time in careers in education to move away from 1,800 students he has a feeling that he will be spending a lot of time down with the 80 P students one unique thing about Greg is he and I stole this from him I'm only on 20 he is we'll see a game at his 27th baseball stadium with his son and he only has three more baseball stadiums to see with his son Wade very cool dr. Eric Berg curriculum and instruction come on up here how many years you been in District Eric well 12 years in a district controls what Eric is most excited about is going back to the cricket instruction world he did work with foreign language in the album before being principal at Eisenhower High School one unique thing about Eric is he is a 4 snake breeder don't be bringing a snake's over to district office all right so what was the what's the biggest snake you had a boy alright that's terrifying all right dr. Eric resign yo welcome to District office dr. Brian Roberts come on up actor Robert will be the new director at Delta Summit or alternative school graduations dr. Roberts how many years you been in this right now 66 years in a district plaintiff rules and discipline is a Dean an assistant principal what he's most excited about is working with the population of kids at Delta Summit their near and dear and close to his heart one unique thing about him I still think you probably keep doing this is he's a former or your professional powerlifter just competitive competitive powerlifter so Brian's passion about powerlifting and you can tell he's so congratulations the Doctor Brian Robert alright just two more dr. Katherine Kane come on up dr. Cain will be working with support service for is a support service curriculum director and Inspire director and comes to us from Richards High School how many years Catherine 7 years graduate what you sought most excited about you've been lucky enough to work in District 218 for last 7 years there are multiple reasons why I'm excited to continue to grow as a professional and District 218 specifically I am excited to utilize all the resources that are district cousins sit in to help remove barriers in order to maximize Student Success in addition she looks forward to fostering Community Partnerships to allow additional opportunities for our District 218 family one unique thing about Katherine she's a truly Avid passionate Runner long distances she ran cross-country and track at the division one level and the longer she is running a half-marathon so far welcome Catherine can the last one Allison wild come on up Allison will be working with our adult transition program as the transition program coordinator so welcome Elson congratulations thank you she is most excited about being able to continue her career in a place that is molded her into it a teacher and now administrator that she is today and being able to work in a place that is dedicated to her students staff and stakeholders one unique thing call Allison is that in her field of special education in a moving into a new position at 2:18 to adult transition program she will now thought the youngest two are all the students over the past 12 years she start a career in elementary school and it moves through Middle School Junior High and now high school and now to adult programming so very cool to have those experiences our new administrators and District 218 graduation oh okay we have one more we just showed up and I started talking about her she went to District office that's okay rookie mistake I've made already a few of them I have him started I start to life Rachel come on up this will be in your evaluation I'm just joshing thank you everyone can see you Rachel hired as an art teacher at Eisenhower High School bachelor's Trinity Christian College works at currently works at Lansing District 158 as an art teacher what she's most excited about to teach High School Ceramics she's wanted to for so many years however our than teaching my favorite subject matter I'm looking forward to working with a team of our teachers for the past seven years he's been working in the art Department alone so she's thankful to have the opportunity to work as a team with other art teachers on one unique thing about Rachel she's been growing a collecting passion flowers at Hobby for over 20 years Excellence graduation Greg Bowman Walmart I did I miss anyone good thank you okay we would do the word would like to congratulate and and welcome you to this District thank you for choosing this place for employment and those you have moved up within the district we also want to congratulate you too so thank you brings us down to text Bryn new teachers you are welcome to stay but we do have it linked the agenda you can stay and learn about the district it's up to you though waiting on go ahead enjoy your night thank you thank you okay brings this how to agenda item 9 vs financial report are there any questions on a financial report 9C technology update questions 19th Street and Roman report there ain't nothing a 9-year general maintenance report I napped is foia request 9 G's business managers update questions 39 brings us down to nine inches Safety and Security report Caesar's style 29 I is articulation and Equity update would you please thank you I know that sweet things all went to the middle schools which was awesome they just came in the school days the ball was wonderful my question for the second and third portion of the articulation I know that 218 is going to have an algebra 1 and honors classes for the summer programming and it says that you guys that there's a lot of kids enrolled. Is that correct everything correctly okay right right yeah okay and then if you guys match with odd 130 partner schools for the articulation of the agenda was it just the administration or were teachers involved as well okay when I clicked on the incoming freshman 40 G programming I saw it had the 18 a reciprocal observation process is that from current okay okay cuz I thought I was like okay this is awesome because I just teachers really need to be involved cuz I will say that they have no idea what's going on and we really just feel like we want to scare the kids to go to you guys wonderful thank you I just this is wonderful and it was definitely it supposed to start at my only suggestion would be just too. only the teachers involved oh absolutely awesome thank you guys so I can just stay at one of the things we did brainstorm what's a possibility next year with current 8th graders resume with our with our current teachers if the board would agree for 6 assignment for a teacher's to work with kids whether it's for credit or just to enhance their skills for algebra and pre-algebra honors algebra so that way can get in the geometry as a freshman so we did explore and are very receptive to it so if the board would agree to six assignments for current teachers that it could be a hybrid where there could be some in person and some Zumba could be a zero power could be there in a day so we're working on some of the logistics obviously love to have the kids in person but can you bossing issues and all those things to sew with the new technology this this offers an opportunity to do this math and who knows after this year can grow into other subject right so I know some other schools around us are doing that with current 8th graders so I could be a really cool opportunity to close that learning gap on a freighter that they are excited but are very very funny either they're very nervous you know the thing online for 2 years and now all the sudden going into the state's high school you know that's why I'm really glad that they did come to our school kind of plane I appreciate that thank you work cited okay princess dial 29 is summer program in 2022 questions bring this down to 90 as committee reports by board members are there any committee reports tonight I just heard an announcement that the education foundation's annual golf outing is June 1st please gather up a foursome and come on out and have some fun it is one of two fundraisers that we do for the Education Foundation thank you bring this down to agenda item number 10 is new business we go down to 10 see which is a request to bid waste disposal and recycling service this is an action item I need a motion to bring it to the floor please River first and the second is there any discussion on this item basic Vegas and sister go out to bid for waste disposal company has permission to do that so we understand that Miss Collier Christian yes motion carries Sunday is recommendations for a food management contract is an action item so I need a motion to bring it to the floor please s s questions is it the new are you coming when your renewals really questions discussion about sir please thank you Miss cantaloupe motion carries freeze down to 10 years recommendation of for multifunctional function excuse me multifunction copier contract I need a motion to bring it to the floor please every second I have a first and a second is there any discussion on The copier contract questions.
