This is like you know what it's okay I won't get to see that well we'll get the exposure say in the class and you get a credit card and it won't hurt your GPA and that's why I made the comment that we're doing it for the teacher but if we're going to do this for all the kids across the creek no credit courses I think we're open ourselves up for some danger or what I just want to take this a creditor what are you up to 20% of the city's roughly about 20 to 20% maybe a symptom of the kids have an option to tell you that you're saying that they're going to drop they're not dropping the class they get a credit on the class 1.18 2001 and I I could just give the teacher a hard time 40 days and I'm close the gas in the car I'm going to say hey I want to take this credit card because I know I can do homework assignments for the next eight weeks and pass the class that we have a proposal there are kids bien I call the teacher at and do all of these sorts of things currently so I don't know I understand that's a worst-case scenario that you're presenting but but I don't know if I don't know I don't have know that the kids will band together and decide to do that I get your point but it does happen now without this is not a good intentions terms of especially with covid-19 and I'm with r e o s movement in terms of in a regular a level math curriculum we've had success with this we did our research on other districts around us adopted this and had success with as well so happy to share that information with you but you're right there could be kids that won't play the game we know that they're doing that already in other capacities to whether it's like okay so the older one kids that are concerned about their GPA the college-bound students who is really struggling and I don't I don't know they might use it but that's okay too because then they're going to be able to get a diploma and graduate so I know it's yes what Josh said met with good intentions and we did this before the pandemic policy that were bringing back up to see whether because it was it worked at this kind of motivated students I'm saying so if a teacher sees the child struggling and you do want them to stay in the class instead of just any you know any kid just going up to their teacher saying hey can I get the credit it would have to be late teacher only the only concern about that is there fun fact Johnny's on my favorite kid in the class I might not offer it to Johnny and then and then we all can get a tag light in this teacher are my other daughter predator and like mrs. Jones dead or something like that so that men respect their position where if there wasn't enough documentation True by I'm choosing to do this I mean let me know how many kids 12 District right I can get the free but it wasn't really nothing. it was an option in only that many people a discussion with the word challenging courses do the kids know coming in that this is not 218 do they know that you know this is about when they get into their algebra class this is this was a policy even during a pandemic one I can't have a live teacher and I'm just got this because they had the safety of being a feeder School you guys that I have kids at Tustin to honors hello I don't know if I can do it so I know this is something that we decide I think it would help relieve maybe there are stress and there I mean Honest Kids that I know will a hundred percent succeed but they're so nervous about it so I was just wondering but it's okay. Antelope Let's Roll no Collier okay so bring trying to send you a video School District 218 first drop and this is an action item so I need a first and second item the first and the second is there any discussion on this item let me go in this is just like the other one we're going to give her a student a month find out if they like in class or don't like the class or what they want to do with the class and if they don't I think the issue is we met in 2018 we approved the audit policy which is to enter School 20 days and you can still get credit for a course so it's kind of aligning those that are current you here but Josh whatever moves family moved he hasn't been in school he came on day 19 he's going to be able to start that class and get credit it's more it's more of a I give it a chance to get a credit because otherwise they got to get it out of the Sonic kid doesn't have to get enough they're going to start they'll be able to get it I was kind of lining I was there for that one so how many students do you think we have that come in after 10 days it drops down dramatically after 10 days we had one let everybody know that now you have 20 day and what is our our teaching population going to do when they go okay so if I know that have my class isn't going to be here for twenty days or could be here for 20 days until 20 days back again because got my test wasn't here for the first 20 days cuz we allowed him to come in later scenarios you know I guess you do keep opposing the worst case scenario that could occur this isn't the worst case scenario this is inability to help kids to decide and envy and treat our kids a little bit more like adults and make some decisions on whether and either their classes working for them or not you know if you go to college at I'll just different I understand that but it will some sure just like we said earlier Kids R Kids and kids do things all the time but it doesn't with the audit we have high-mobility to rate as well we have we have kids that show up you know Eisenhower in particular there's still a major problem with sometimes enrollment when people showing up after Labor Day when we start Ashley Stewart out of the system sometimes so I get your point I guess we're just there's a difference of opinion we think this gives kids some choices and opportunities can I look at it from the about the deficit model but no I'm not doing so well here I can step out of here you know what because I got all these other courses I need to focus on and so maybe I don't want to be in this house right now other loser credit or two so they're going to best for them in that situation now if they lose the credit they have to take another credit at the back on cuz they're getting out there going to be GPA kids are dropping like three courses in one semester and this happens informally on some level because their actions and classes I think at the building administrators would probably tell you that they approved at and not put that on a transfer it happens when an informal level but there's an equity not all students have the opportunity it's only those teachers who say hey put on the couch and I think that Equity component important Dimension here and we have kids dropped off you know when it's not their fault necessarily that their parents brought them a month into the school year until we got a choice we can let them sit there ask no classes you're telling me pay you supposed to pay attention to all the work like when you get any credit and so that's why we slid the audit numbers a little bit here.
