Superintendent

Dr. Barron grew up on the south side of Chicago and lived in multiple places. At one time he lived in both Oak Lawn and Blue Island. His mom was born and raised in Oak Lawn and graduated from Richards High School.
 
Dr. Barron earned his bachelor's degree in History and Secondary Education from Lewis University. He earned his master's degree in Principal Leadership from St. Xavier University. Finally, he earned his Certificate of Advanced Study and Doctorate of Education from Northern Illinois University.
 
Dr. Barron has served District 218 for many years. He started in the district as Principal of Alan B. Shepard High School and served in that position for seven years. In 2015, Dr. Barron became the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. The District 218 Board of Education voted unanimously to hire him as Superintendent of Schools in January 2022.
