504

Determination as to whether a student receives an IEP or 504 plan comes from a comprehensive team of professionals which includes but not limited to the school psychologist, school social worker, school counselor, teachers, parents, student, administrators or other related service providers. Various information is gathered from all of the team members then reviewed to determine how to best meet the student's needs. 504 plans provide students with accommodations due to their disability or suspected disability that may limit them from accessing the general education setting. IEPs provide students with accommodations and modifications along with specially designed instruction due to their disability adversely affecting their ability to access the general education without additional support. Both plans are determined by the individual student needs.
