2026 Summer Driver Education

Students must be 15 years of age by May 8, 2026

 

PROGRAM DATES & TIMES

Classroom Instruction - June 8 – July 2, 2026 (Monday–Thursday) - 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. - First day of attendance: Monday, June 8, 2026

Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) - Schedules provided on the first day of class - May occur before/after class, or on Fridays/Saturdays

 

LOCATIONS

Students will attend class at one of the following campuses:

    • Eisenhower High School, 12700 S. Sacramento Ave., Blue Island, IL 60406
    • Richards High School, 10601 S. Central Ave., Oak Lawn, IL 60453
    • Shepard High School 13049 S. Ridgeland Ave., Palos Heights, IL 60463
 

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Register online: https://chsd218.revtrak.net/

    • Registration deadline: May 8, 2026
    • Cost: $220 (no tuition waivers accepted)
    • Registration is not complete without payment

 

ENROLLMENT OPTIONS

    • Classroom + BTW (classroom instruction and BTW)
    • BTW Only (for students who have completed an approved Driver Ed course and need only the 6 BTW hours)
    • BTW Only students do not attend classroom sessions
    • Proof of completion required by May 22, 2026, to: [email protected]
    • Note: Cost is the same for both options ($220)

 

ATTENDANCE & TRANSPORTATION

    • Daily attendance is required
    • Students will be dropped after their second absence
    • Students are responsible for their own transportation

 

PERMIT TESTING (REQUIRED FOR CLASSROOM + BTW)

    • Saturday, May 9, 2026
    • 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
    • Shepard High School Cafeteria
    • What to Bring: - $20 permit fee (check or money order payable to Secretary of State) - School-issued iPad or laptop Parent/guardian to sign permit application

 

 

Students:  Please prepare yourselves for the permit test.  You can pick up a copy of the Illinois Rules of the Road at local libraries, the Department of Motor Vehicles, or the link below. Also linked is a review workbook that can help you prepare for the permit test.
