meeting to order this is the regular board meeting of the School Board of Education of District 218 is Thursday August 18th 2022 we are at Eisenhower High School and I'm going to go ahead and call the meeting to order and start with a call mr. Christian is going to be the secretary Pro time for tonight and I have the acting president because he is not here tonight rabbits kiss house key Epson Miss Collier Epson and mistress focus is also answer so we are States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible and justice for all hey hey the next agenda item is comments from the public related to meeting agenda items so do we have any comments from the public okay so when you come to the my can you state your name please for us and then make your comments thank you he in the athletic programs in Shepherd so I the current policy the district right now that I cannot play sports and I believe that I would be missing out on scholarships for college and I would also be the team would also not allowing young team so I wrestle I play lacrosse and I so I would like to talk to you soon changed to allow me the privilege that the ihsa has already homeschoolers and I would just like to talk thank you thank you for telling me that I have your your name thank you sir thank you are there any other, the public tonight what we appreciate your comments and somebody from the district office will be responding to in the future okay so thank you so much for coming the next item is a board members opportunities respond to the public and or a board member, is anybody anybody on the board have any, hey hearing none we're going to go to the next item on the agenda with is the approval of the consent agenda items in the City action items so I need a motion to bring it to the floor please and the items and consent agenda are approval of minutes all the regular board meeting from 16th 2022 closed session June 16th 2022 the working board meeting from July 6th 2022 at work in closed session July 6th 2022 9 a.m. spank resolution how did the approval of expenditures on chsd218 payment of bills for June and July and Max payables and that item number 11 is recommendations of the superintendent are concerning staff and personnel Dallas number 20 22-8 is there anywhere that would like anything removed from the consent agenda hey mister Christian can you take it to a vote please miss roll Christian yes hello yes. Item number seven is old business I don't think we have any old business to discuss tonight so we'll move on to number eight which is reports to the superintendent and our first report is hiring introductions and Doctor Waldron assistant principal and culture coordinator rchs the family feel when is the next full moon jsoc Just Tires DePaul University you most excited about making sauce you think about Chase and travels with people Martinez where was Herod family summer science teacher betrayal is between Shepherd and Eisenhower graduate with a bachelor's degree from University excited about working with students and teaching class do you think about yours she completed her student teaching at Eisenhower and now she's looking forward to being the teacher if you need me a check language teacher and Richard High School DePaul University she's worthless a long time stop at the mount Township she's most excited about you 18 I love the fact that you will be having an impact on Christmas Eve nothing about Anna and move to the USA when she was 22 years old it's a lot of languages has changed the way she looked at the world Illinois University work at Little Company of Mary reports to the superintendent's the financial reports for June and July anybody has any questions none next the technology updates anybody have any comments or questions on that you're not going to move to the general maintenance report any questions or comments from weird numbers it's like they think Rodger and Lisa and all the custodial maintenance back but a busy summer and they work tirelessly to get the buildings ready schools ready to go so thank you great job Nexus player requests anybody have any questions in regards to the foia request next is the Safety and Security report anybody have any questions or comments and if anybody should have said this is anybody who it was introduced if you have things to do to go get ready for classes tomorrow and you just want to understand do you want to leave so that's totally fine campuses check for suspicious activity and open doors that is an added layer to the many security measures we have in place already and so far how many like passes are they making it explode okay good . the next is the report on the 21 22 AP exams anybody have any questions for your Kursi they got through covid and still looks pretty good right okay thank goodness I think you are next week instant withdrawals second semester of 2122 anybody have any questions or comments there is next is that a report on the valuation of the new faculty orientation that took place diffuser very nice job caring for our week-long event teachers received very well so it's a train a train sound we didn't we had lunch on old western positive to positive comments we get these reports are from the bus we can go next to the evaluation of I'm sorry is there any committee reports by board members. and I know it's been this summer so what is the plan for the day this year okay we were more programming we're looking to knock over 26 with penciled in that date or but I wanted to get some point I do think we need to talk about helping a committee articulation committee we spoke about it put that together and then we can plan for this October 26th before things get crazy awesome thank you so much anybody else and I just wanted it to make , just share that I was able to attend a speaker that we carry such as Holly and Sufi coordinated having a speaker come and speak to the ATM Rite Aid the young man by the name of Jordans Houma came out and spoke to our adult transition program teachers and he was just a phenomenal speaker and I think the staff was really inspired and he's got a great message but I think we glad of us feel like would be great you know hopefully get him back out to speak to some of our other Staffing in our kids and our parents because he's a young man who struggled through school for special education and a supportive parents but just really found his Niche and he's very successful and he has a great message the kids who kind of feel like maybe they don't have that support or that they can't succeed and so he was just really great and if it ever comes back on Amazon but I felt like the staff was so grateful that it was just something sometimes I mean I mean teacher sometimes all of us who work in education we know that sometimes these speakers can be a little boring and sometimes he says 22 days are not the most exciting and I think that they were pretty excited to hear what he had to say it was a really great it was a great engaging thing and then we took the opportunity to take him around and show him what a teepee had to offer to our students and he was blown away by the program he know he just he couldn't say enough good things about what we are offering to our students that are in that program and there aren't a lot of districts that are doing that in house and providing those opportunities to do the kids so he was just message me even after and just talked about how great he thought it was death was so I think we're very lucky that we have that program here in our district I was really proud to see how much it's grown in and what we have available to our kids so I think it would be great if sometime when we're at the office anybody who and aboard his interest get to really take it to her and see it like upstairs and what you know what all those different things are available to the kids cuz it really is just incredible it really is so thank you for thank you care for that Carrie got to deal with her and Jordan Ruth like BFFs before they leave for the day was over so yeah we have a fan club the next item is new business resolutions which is an action item so I need a motion to bring that to the floor anybody have any questions about that doesn't protect us against tips write in order to have a different area region that we would have to go down as a board but this okay it's okay we can protect ourselves at all and tips initially initially no anybody else okay mister Christian we need to vote please miss cantello what's the updates in this is the first reading so we'll be revisiting this at the next board meeting to approve any of the updates who's preparing these now so if anybody has any before we vote on the next month just refer your questions to doctor Wilder and most of this is just legal changes in and it's all comes from press anyway so and there's a lot of okay next item is the resolution center in agreement with tiaras for the Illinois supplemental Savings Program this is an action item so need a motion to bring it to the floor please does anybody have any questions consider Krista can you take it to a bowl please miss the Master Kush and can you take it to a vote please just roll a Christian yes yes hey and our next item is of approval to proceed with the design phase and bid documents for summer 2023 construction Pet Project paid for by the American Rescue plan after 3 Grant this is it. items I need a motion to bring it to the floor hey does anybody have any questions if anybody want to see anything John Hallberg has worked tirelessly with the Architects on these made numerous changes and we finally had landed on some really good projects and then make improvements to our facility in air quality yeah I also got my everybody question DDE roof repairs is that going to impact our solar project at all art open thank you sir any other questions or comments okay mister Christian can you take to a bowl please the next item on the agenda would be closed session which we don't have a need to go into closed session tonight so we just any board members have any other comments or we can they think really schools are incredible and I know the opening when is fantastic what a way to go to 18th turn off in the community I've heard a lot of positive people from communities and your your selfie they loves
