Last week the District 218 Board of Education received construction bids for the performing arts center planned for Richards High School.
The Board voted to reject the bids because all were submitted several million dollars over the projected estimates of the architectural firm that designed the arts center.
To expedite the bid process, the Board immediately instructed the architectural firm to refine the arts center design plans so that the construction costs will fall within the budgeted window.
The Board of Education remains committed to the project and hopes to re-bid it soon so that construction can begin this spring as originally planned. District 218 will share further news on the arts center project once the bidding process concludes.
